Symptoms of Erratic Eye Movements
Engaging Eyes
Struggling readers often make erratic eye movements when they read. This is part of the reason why reading is so difficult for these pupils. Engaging Eyes is a vision training program, which improves reading by an average of 12 months in one term.
The red line shows where Abby was looking before she played Engaging Eyes.
This shows why she found reading so hard - her eyes were wobbling.
If your eyes are wobbling when you read, it makes reading very slow, and hard to understand what you've read.
If you can't focus both eyes on the same point, your brain will receive two different images.
For example, your left eye might focus on the first letter in the word and your right eye might focus on
the last letter in the word. This can make the text appear to move, look blurry, double or have a halo effect.
Engaging Eyes is suitable for all struggling readers who reverse letters, lose their place, read slowly or don't understand what they've read.
Engaging Eyes contains a series of 3d games, which require you to focus both eyes on the same point.
It takes 10 minutes, and should be played at least 3 times a week.
It can be run as a group intervention and can be played on any PC, laptop, Chromebook or iPad.
Free 3D glasses are included with your subscription.
